Idle Rumors and Defamation Circulated About Robert Fischer, Confused As Fact by Public

The only “documented evidence” from typically reliable sources, regarding any personal connection between Robert Fischer and Henry Kissinger are disclosed in two following excerpts. In 1972, on his return to America, Fischer was unaware of the extent of the defamation and false stories cooked up in Moscow and poured into U.S.-World newspapers. The first mention by Fischer, is a New York Times Interview, September 23, 1972, spoken by Bobby, in jest. “First of all,” he said, “I want to deny a vicious rumor that's been going around—I think it was started by Moscow. It is not true that Henry Kissinger phoned me during the night to tell me the moves.” What can Fischer do about such wild rumors, but laugh along with them? The second reference to a supposed personal connection with Kissinger, again in jest, was scripted by comedians in Hollywood, designed to elicit laughter from the audience but not intended to be taken literally:
Bob Hope: Bobby, I heard that all through your match you were getting advice from Henry Kissinger. Is that true?
Bobby Fischer: That's right.
Bob Hope: Did it help?
Bobby Fischer: It will if I meet *Jill St. John.
https://youtu.be/LSWau3pTyIg?t=216

Certainly, Bob Hope shouldn't need to ask such a question if it had been confirmed by White House press aides. However, like the rumored “invitation to the White House” the best the New York Times could get, was officials declining comment.

*Jill St. John was a famous actress in 1960-1970s who dated Henry Kissinger.
Kissinger 'shared girlfriend' with mob lawyer
Washington. At the height of secret negotiations to end the Vietnam War in 1972, then US secretary of state Henry Kissinger allegedly shared an actress girlfriend (Jill St. John) with a Hollywood lawyer who became notorious for his mobster connections.”

In 1972, Fischer was laughing along with the sordid rumors and had not grasped the extent of the damage Moscow's negative press had inflicted on his reputation back home during the July-September 1972 tournament. By 1974, Life Magazine's Brad Darrach (notorious for smear journalism) had written another fictitious novel, riddled with defamatory, insulting mischaracterization of Robert Fischer. By this point Fischer was avoiding the press, and growing angry toward those spreading vile character defamation, and by 1977 sued Darrach/Life Magazine.
Unfortunately, the damage was done. The public believed the falsehoods that were spewed by Moscow throughout the Spring and Summer months of 1972, while Fischer was isolated behind the Iron Curtain of Soviet controlled Icelandic Chess Federation. When Fischer's lawsuit was heard in court, he did not receive justice against Darrach's defamation. Imagine that! Financial profit from libel and character defamation, or that Darrach was protected by an army of Life Magazine lawyers.
In 2005, it was reported: “Fischer would later report that he was ‘laughed out of court’ and, it was that turning point, Fischer began to view the justice system as a farce: ‘I got laughed out of court,’ he said. ‘This is when I began to realize what kind of a country America was then … it's just a sham democracy. … That's when I started to part company with the U.S.’”

Idle Rumors and Defamation Circulated About Robert Fischer, Confused As Fact by Public

Who's responsible for pressing the fraudulent belief there was a connection between Robert Fischer and Kissinger, anyway? Brad Darrach? Larry Evans? The more important fact here is that people around the world blame Kissinger for prolonging the Vietnam war among other crimes, directly responsible for the deaths of millions. Moscow, would have loved for any connection between Fischer, as a scapegoat and war criminal Kissinger to be seared into the minds of people worldwide, but Fischer would eventually go on with his life and denounce war criminals the likes of Kissinger.

The Jury is out until better documented evidence is available. Larry Evans and Brad Darrach are hardly qualified as reliable sources.

Nixon, Moscow and Vietnam

While Nixon and Kissinger were carrying on secret negotiations with Moscow behind closed doors, to prolong the Empires' unconstitutional war in Vietnam, it's necessary to point out, the Soviet Union was very much involved in Vietnam, and to share in the guilt of atrocities, fanning the flames for the Military Industry profits… Nixon's illegal wire tapping and Watergate… but Fischer was thrown into the Racist Soviet-Controlled Anti-American hovel at Reykjavik, isolated thousands of miles from any hospitable location where reporters could freely congregate, and for months, with the match isolated and reports filtered through Soviet spin doctors, flooded the world news outlets with exaggerations and distortions. Throughout 1971, while reports of Fischer's exploits filled the headlines, Fischer's devastating knockout of Taimanov and Larsen, followed by the humiliating defeat of the USSR in Argentina... the Soviet had the tournament isolated from the world press and now with their exaggerating reports turning away support of Fischer in the tournament in Reykjavik, knowing the Soviet Union would be licked, and the crown taken from them. Like a sacrificial sheep thrown to the wolves who are eager to tear into Americans, ANY American, blindly, for what world leaders are guilty of plotting behind the Iron Curtain from Moscow all the way to Washington, DC. Why was Fischer used as a scapegoat to refocus the world's hostility over Vietnam off Nixon who received and reciprocated praise, hospitality and politesse with Moscow's elite, in the world press? But Fischer, the scapegoat, set up as a target for public scorn. Why was Fischer made to bear the burden of public criticism for the crimes committed by Moscow-Nixon? Mr. Fischer didn't vote for Nixon. We were forbidden to vote or engage in political elections in the Worldwide Church of God.

Where's the criticism of the unsportsmanlike racism? USSR selecting Anti-American, Racist Iceland who restricted entry of blacks and news coverage. See New York Times, 7/21/1972 by Harold C. Schonberg: “The manager of the hotel, however, said today that this was the first he had heard of the request. Mr. Cramer said, in response to the pool issue that Fischer ‘only wanted to use it before game time.’ Mr. Cramer said that “most of these 14 points were already taken care of” and the press, “making a fuss over nothing.”

If the Soviet-controlled press is unleashing a barrage of fabrications criticizing Fischer with their fanatic exaggerations, there's less energy and time to devote to criticizing Nixon, Moscow, Kissinger and Military Industrial profits turned in Vietnam.

Rehashed Soviet Anti-American Invective to Turn World Interest Away From Fischer's Defeat of USSR

Dear Mr. F. Johnston, of Oscoda, Michigan: Are you proud that you swallowed Soviet Propaganda hook, lie, sinker; believing Moscow's onslaught of untruths and disinformation trickling into American and world newspapers, throwing your support blindly and irrationally behind the USSR without question at the expense of national morale and pride? Supporting the Soviets, which picked Iceland of all places, isolating the match behind the Iron Curtain to restrict the free press... renown for their restricted entry of African Americans and ghastly Anti-Americanism? Are your children and grandchildren proud that you chose to publicly lend your support to Soviet-Icelandic institutional Racism?
Sincerely, a fellow American.

Soviet Propaganda Aftermath

Anyone still believe the floods of negative, defamatory verbal assault upon Robert Fischer to destroy national morale whilst heaping praise and political favoritism upon the Soviets in American newspapers… straining at idle gossip about Robert Fischer to spread wild, inflammatory rumors while sparing no expense to cover for Soviet indiscretions, and publishing blatant Soviet bias did any favors for publicizing Chess? Think again. While the Soviets were steadily working to destroy the reputation and popularity of Chess with their vitriolic bias against Robert Fischer, Fischer had worked hard to build up world interest in the game itself. He who says that Fischer did not care what the papers wrote about him (which was the equivalent of Chess itself, since “Chess” was his life) — know nothing about the man.

Frozen At The Post!
Sports fans by the hundreds have been inquiring as to the reason for The Call's failure to have this column cover the Chess World's Championship in Reykjavik, Iceland. Frankly, the editor reacted so lightly to our “Olympics at Munich in '72” campaign, it was felt he would be downright cool to this column's invasion of Iceland. Additionally, The Call's coverage, heretofore, has never gone beyond the 60th parallel of north latitude. So, for this year, the Spassky-Fischer matches will get but routine world coverage. And if both Spassky and Fischer seem unhappy, it could be that they're on a steady diet of the product of Iceland's main farm crop —turnips!

When Should Draw Be Offered In Chess Match?

It's Nothing Personal. It's All About the Money! says Whistleblower

All around the internet there are complaints arising against the social media giant from both leftist and rightwing corners about “FB jail” on accounts, and page restrictions/violations based on content taken out of context and no possible way to obtain a valid appeal since you will find yourself judge and juried by the same AI bots which restricted your content in the first place. Some have a conspiracy theory the “left” is behind it, but since FB has a history of coddling human traffickers, targeting people of color, discriminatory hiring practices, the left is certainly not behind it. On the contrary, FB has been implicated as complicit with coddling “Authoritarian regimes”.
So, who recently listened to the congressional hearing whistleblower? The media has arrived at a consensus, the whistleblower's message can be simplified as exposing how algorithms are designed for one thing: Increasing Profits.
Has everyone studied the complaints of people on the rightwing who were penalized over some statements, that in fact, have a basis in truth to them? Be open to review both sides, both left and right, for the testimonies litter the web and why valid statements were dismissed by “fact checkers”. Or how otherwise harmless content was misconstrued as a breech of policy to obtain penalizing innocent parties.
“Palestine” is just one of many excuses, a pretext, to restrict reach to an audience who have subscribed to a page.
You may have paid good money to get those followers, but the right to restrict your posts reaching them is “reserved.” by the internet giant.
From personal experience, it takes nothing more than confronting a troublesome neo-Nazi who is impersonating a Jew and making claims contrary to every tenet of Judaism. By pointing out their discrepancies you risk FB bots penalizing your page and there is no recourse. The antisemite escapes unscathed and the person who is on the correct side of history is punished and the end result is the same: You may purchase advertising if you want to reach your subscribers, again.

He "knows this for certain" said the chess source...

Not to get caught up in no-account hearsay chess sources, but the source erroneously claimed, or perhaps the more likely case, was seeking his 15 minutes of self-promoting hype because he hasn't got what it takes to achieve glories through merit of his own moves— that Fischer supposedly “broke a camera” which is now proposed as the reason why, the source claimed Fischer was sued by Chester Fox.
Dear friends, what camera from 1972 would cost $3.2 million dollars? See this source of “expensive television” cameras. The author is criticizing a whopping $250,000 price tag! (that's with inflation tacked on!). Even in 2019, in contrast to 1972, its not even close to that $3.2 million price tag in Chester Fox Inc's illegitimate lawsuit which the Soviet used to hound and persecute Fischer long after the tournament in Anti-American, Racist Iceland, for the following decade and thwart Fischer's further interest in professional competition.

Newspaper reports daily, universally, confirmed from varying syndicated media agencies state the “reason” underpinning Chester Fox, Inc suing Fischer for $3.2 million was because the Soviet-Icelandic organizers and Chester Fox made an unethical “contract” to sell photography rights from under interested parties then further, misled Fischer about the nature of the cameras that would be operated, and when Fischer demanded the removal of the disruptive camera men crews, just as the Soviet undoubtedly anticipated Fischer would, the Icelandic-Soviet officials refused to comply, Fischer then refused to play Game 2.

Fischer's complaint about the disruptive camera crews was a valid one, but Chester Fox Inc, the Soviet's ace-in-the-hole, an underhanded trick, used it to wrongly claim Fischer was then to blame for loss in profits from the match. Therefore, an excuse to sue Fischer for $3.2 million, post-tournament.

Fischer wanted, and was under the impression the cameras would be stationary, automatic, closed-circuit… most of all silent. Up till a tour of the auditorium, just prior to Game one, organizers and Chester Fox Inc saw fit to withhold the cameras that would be later used during the match from Fischer's inspection.

When Game One began, Fischer saw the large bulky cameras, and worse, operated by a swarm of disruptive men which could both be seen and heard. Reportedly, in crews numbering up to three men.

Large, bulky television cameras suitable for a football or soccer game, but not a chess tournament… Golombek himself reported witnessing one such camera man crawling around on the roof and training his camera lens on Fischer during game one. Fischer was distracted, got up, lodged complaint but did not “break” any cameras. Rather, Fred Cramer called in the police and had the trespasser ejected.

In the contract that Col. Edmondson of the US Chess Federation agreed to, and helped to draft in Amsterdam, it states emphatically if Fischer lodged a demand for removal of the cameras and persons operating them due to visual and auditory disruptions, blowing concentration of either player … Fischer was well within his rights to demand removal and OUT they should go! with no delays. Fischer set out game 2 in protest because organizers were breaking the rules and impeding rules of good sportsmanship.

Perhaps, the erroneous chess source saw this blip in an old newspaper and due to old age or a need for prescription glasses, got Mick Jagger and Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones wrastling with a Photographer and Police, mixed up with Bobby Fischer. It's on the same newspaper leaf, after all. Such an easy mistake to make.

'til the world understands why Robert J. Fischer criticised the U.S./British and Russian military industry imperial alliance and their own Israeli Apartheid. Sarah Wilkinson explains:

Bobby Fischer, First Amendment, Freedom of Speech
What a sad story Fischer was,” typed a racist, pro-imperialist colonial troll who supports mega-corporation entities over human rights, police state policies & white supremacy.
To which I replied: “Really? I think he [Bob Fischer] stood up to the broken system of corruption and raised awareness! Whether on the Palestinian/Israel-British-U.S. Imperial Apartheid scam, the Bush wars of ‘7 countries in 5 years,’ illegally, unconstitutionally which constituted mass xenocide or his run in with police brutality in Pasadena, California-- right here in the U.S., police run rampant over the Constitution of the U.S., on oath they swore to uphold, but when Americans don't know the law, and the cops either don't know or worse, “don't care” -- then I think that's pretty darn “sad”. I think Mr. Fischer held out and fought the good fight, steadfast til the day he died, and may he Rest In Peace.

After which the troll posted a string of profanities, confirming there was never any genuine sentiment of “compassion” for Mr. Fischer, rather an intent to inflict further defamatory remarks.

This ongoing work is a tribute to the life and accomplishments of Robert “Bobby” Fischer who passionately loved and studied chess history. May his life continue to inspire many other future generations of chess enthusiasts and kibitzers, alike.
